The Queen Jadwiga Fund Scholarships

The Queen Jadwiga Fund was established to commemorate the historic deed accomplished by Queen Jadwiga, who bequeathed her entire private estate for the renewal of the University of Cracow, thereby laying the foundation for six centuries of continuing scholarship and academic teaching in the Jagiellonian University of Cracow. The Fund's aim is to provide Scholarships for academics and doctoral students from Central and Eastern Europe, the countries of the former Soviet Union, and the Balkans, who wish to conduct scholarly research in the City of Cracow.

Our full Scholarships amount to monthly cash payments of 1,500 PLN for academics, plus free accommodation in one of the University's halls of residence in a double - occupancy room and basic medical care for the duration of Scholarship in Cracow. The duration for Scholarships is from one to six months, depending on the nature of the academic project a candidate presents.

The competition for academic year 2009/2010 has been announced and the applications are being accepted to arrive not later than by June 15th 2009.
The scholarship holders will do their research in Kraków from October 2009 till June 2010.

Below you can see what an application for a scholarship should comprise:

  • an address to the Rector of Jagellonian University;
  • a fulfilled form;
  • a list of his/her academic achievements and publications;
  • a research program while staying at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow;
  • advisable a reference letter from an academic worker of the Jagiellonian University;
  •  a curriculum vitae;
  • a photocopy of the passport page with a photo.

Candidates should have sent their applications with the inscription “Fundusz Królowej Jadwigi” on the envelope, to arrive not later than by June 15th, 2009 to the following address:

The Jagiellonian University provides Scholarship holders with scholarship, accommodation in a double-occupancy room in a student house and basic medical care for the duration of their Scholarship in Cracow.
