Purpose

The award, in the form of a fellowship, is given to a postdoctoral scientist or engineer for research in the field of industrial electrochemistry.

The Award

The award shall be known as the Oronzio de Nora Industrial Electrochemistry Fellowship of The Electrochemistry Society, Inc. The award will be in the form of a $25,000 fellowship for one year, twice renewable based on successful research progress as judged by the Award’s Committee (see below).

It is intended that the recipient should feel he or she is uniquely an Oronzio de Nora Industrial Electrochemistry Fellow during the period of his or her Fellowship; to this end, he or she is required to not hold other named fellowships. However, the recipient is eligible to receive additional financial support during the award period.  The Oronzio de Nora Foundation will fund the award.

Candidates Qualifications

The award shall be made without regard to sex, citizenship, race or financial need. It shall be made to a postdoctoral scientist or engineer continuing research in industrial electrochemistry. Qualifications shall not be waived in case no candidate qualifies for the awards within any one calendar year; instead, the Oronzio de Nora Foundation shall retain the funds normally allocated. The nominee’s thirty-fifth birthday may not precede April 1 of the year in which the fellowship is made.

Requirements

An essay (1,000 words or less) addressing personal interests/career goals related to the fellowship position, and skills talents brought to the fellowship, along with a curriculum vitae, three letters of recommendations (should include letter of support from the group receiving the fellow), and transcripts should be submitted to the Society by the nominee for consideration. In addition, Fellowship winners will submit a paper for publication in Interface upon annual completion of their fellowship to assure successful Fellowship progress.

Selection of Candidates

The Chairman of the Honors and Awards Committee shall annually appoint a Fellowship subcommittee, consisting of five members and one Chairman. If possible, committee members should be from various regions of the world. They will select the Oronzio De Nora Post Doctoral Fellow of The Electrochemical Society, and notify the Chairman of Honors and Awards by March 15 of the year the Award is to be presented.
