Title of Post: Teaching Assistant in European Politics

Contract Type: 10 month fixed term

Salary: €30,961 p.a. pro rata
(Less 10% for new entrants to the Public Sector)


Qualifications:

  • The successful candidate will have a PhD, or be close to completing one, in Comparative European Politics / Wider Europe


Purpose of the job:

  • To carry out teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate level in specified modules during the academic year 2013/14.


Description:

The Teaching Assistant will contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in the Department of Politics and Public Administration in the area of European Politics, including student supervision duties.

Over the duration of the post, the Teaching Assistant will be expected to make a reasonable contribution to the activities and research objectives of the Department as may be requested by the Head of Department.

Specifically the appointee will be required to cover teaching on two of the following postgraduate modules:

  • External Relations of the European Union
  • Central and Eastern Europe
  • Comparative Politics
  • Policies and Policy Making in the European Union


Essential

  • PhD completed, or close to completion, in Comparative European Politics / Wider Europe
  • Teaching experience in a higher education institution.


Desirable

  • Postgraduate teaching experience


Salary

  • €30,961 p.a. pro rata (Less 10% for new entrants to the Public Sector)
