Undergraduate Scholarships

The University of Adelaide offers a scholarships scheme for international students undertaking undergraduate study in 2006.

The Adelaide Achiever Scholarships International (AASI)
(Colombo Plan - MACC)
Up to 2 Adelaide Achiever Scholarships may be available to international students who are citizens of Malaysia undertaking study in any academic discipline*. Benefits are payment of 50% tuition fees for the normal duration of the program.

The Adelaide Achiever Scholarships International (AASI)
(OPEN)

Up to 11 Adelaide Achiever Scholarships may be available to international students from any country undertaking study in any academic discipline*. Benefits are payment of 50% tuition fees for the normal duration of the program.

* Scholarships awarded to students undertaking the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery program are only available for the first four years.

The Sepang Institute of Technology Scholarships
A limited number of scholarships for academically outstanding students transferring to The University of Adelaide after completing two years at the Sepang Institute of Technology (SIT). Benefits are payment of full tuition fees for the normal duration of the program.

The INTI College Malaysia Scholarships
A limited number of scholarships are available for academically outstanding students in their Diploma studies in Engineering and Commerce transferring to the University of Adelaide from INTI College Malaysia. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of one scholarship for every five enrolled students. Students applying through the INTI University Placement Office with an average of 75% or better are guaranteed a scholarship.

Partial Scholarships for articulating students transferring in to later years in Engineering and Computer Science
Up to 48 scholarships will be available for meritorious diploma holders from the Universitys articulation partners in Singapore, China, Vietnam and Malaysia who enrol in Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Computer Science programs at the University of Adelaide.
Benefits are a 30% reduction in tuition fees for the duration of the program, two years for the Engineering degrees and one year for a Computer Science degree.

The Adelaide Sarawak Alumni Scholarship
One scholarship is available to a Malaysian citizen who has been accepted into an undergraduate degree at the University of Adelaide. The successful applicant will have strong academic qualifications and should be able to demonstrate financial need. Benefits are $2,000 for each academic year the student is enrolled at the University for a maximum of three years.

Applicants for this scholarship should complete both the general international student undergraduate application for admission attached below and an additional form available at http://www.adelaide.edu.au/alumni/  

Application Process
There is no separate application process for any of the above scholarships. An application for admission to the University in 2006 will constitute an application for a scholarship. All applications for admission consistent with the eligibility and selection criteria will be considered automatically for a scholarship.

An application fee of $50 must accompany the application for admission. This fee is waived for applications made through an IDP Education Australia office, or a nominated University representative overseas.

The deadlines for receipt of applications and complete supporting documentation are:

Bachelor of Oral Health programs
for academic programs commencing Semester II, 2006 30 April 2006

Successful Undergraduate scholarship recipients will be informed  in June 2006.

Conditions
Scholarships will be awarded strictly on academic merit. Extra- curricular achievements will not be considered.
Since the AASI undergraduate scholarships are primarily for school leavers, applicants who have commenced tertiary studies at the time of application will not be considered.
Scholarships are available only for the first degree in combined degree/double degree programs.
Citizens and Permanent Residents of Australia, and citizens of New Zealand are ineligible for any of the above scholarships.
Candidates are required to enrol in The University of Adelaide as "international students" and must maintain "international student" status for the duration of their enrolment in the University.
Candidates who have applied for Australian permanent resident status are ineligible to apply.
Scholarships are available for the normal duration of the program, subject to satisfactory progress. Extensions beyond the normal duration of the program are not available.
All successful recipients will be required to pay their own Overseas Student Health Cover each year.
Scholarships holders must commence study in The University of Adelaide in 2006. By negotiation, winners scheduled to commence in Semester I, 2006 may defer until Semester II, 2006. Scholarship winners will not be permitted to defer commencement until 2006.
