Research Fellowships in Economics at University of Oslo in Norway, 2014
Faculty of Social Sciences, Department of Economics in the University of Oslo is offering 3-4 Research Fellow positions/Grants for doctoral studies. The appointments are for a period of 3-4 years, depending on the teaching load. Research Fellows are expected to participate in the Faculty’s doctoral programme, with the aim of completing a doctoral degree within the appointment period. A good command of English is required of all applicants. Application deadline is March 1, 2014.

Eligibility: A 2-year Master’s degree, the degree of cand.oecon, a Norwegian hovedfag or an equivalent qualification in economics is required. Candidates completing their master’s degrees (or equivalent) in the spring semester 2014 before August 1, 2014, may apply.
-For candidates with education from an institution outside the European Economic Area/the European Union or Switzerland a recent score from the general GRE test is required as part of the documentation of qualifications. The Department of Economics does not accept the GMAT tests to substitute the GRE. A good command of English is required of all applicants. International students must document their proficiency in English by taking either TOEFL- or IELTS-test.

Scholarship Description: 3-4 Research Fellow positions/Grants for doctoral studies are available at the Department of Economics. The appointments are for a period of 3-4 years, depending on the teaching load. Research Fellows are expected to participate in the Faculty’s doctoral programme, with the aim of completing a doctoral degree within the appointment period. 1 position is associated with ERC Advanced Grant of Professor Kjetil Storesletten. The Macroeconomics of Inequality, Development and the Welfare State. 2-3 position are not linked to specific topics or research projects, and the student can choose his/her own project freely.

Duration of award(s): Fellowships are offered for a period of 3-4 years, depending on the teaching load. Research Fellows are expected to participate in the Faculty’s doctoral programme, with the aim of completing a doctoral degree within the appointment period.
What does it cover? The fellowships will provide:
-Pay grade 52-56 (NOK 435 100 - 465 300 per annum) for Research Fellowships.
-Academically stimulating working environment..

-Good welfare benefits (e.g. maternity leave).
-Students will be provided with their own office space and will have access to all the facilities of the department.
Selection criteria: When evaluating the application, emphasis will be given to the applicant’s academic and personal prerequisites to carry out the project and to the project description.
