NATJEČAJ ZA DODJELU STIPENDIJE

Dr. Marija Veljaca Foundation, neprofitna nevladina organizacija sa sjedištem u Sjedinjenim Američkim Državama, objavljuje natječaj za dodjelu stipendije studentima medicine i medicinskih znanosti u akademskoj godini 2013/2014.

About the Foundation
Dr. Marija Veljaca Foundation was established on March 11, 2005 in memory of Dr. Marija Veljača, a medical doctor and a research scientist in the field of gastroenterology.

The purpose of the foundation is to raise funding and provide assistance to individuals who are pursuing a career in medicine or research science and whose primary goal is to help others, by providing such individuals with:

• scholarships to assist with medical school tuition;
• funds for books, publications, magazines, lab fees and the like while attending medical school;
• funds for living expenses while attending medical school; and
• other similar sources of support.

Scholarship
We are currently accepting applications for this year's scholarship. The deadline is February 16, 2014.

Number of scholarships: 1

The amount of the scholarship: $1,000

Period: 2013/2014 academic year

Payment type: the scholarship is in US $. The amount will be paid in one installment by check or wire transfer.

Eligible candidates: medical students and research scientists in the area of medical sciences attending an accredited program.

Selection criteria:

• Academic excellence as evident from the Grade Point Average, letters of recommendations and past awards received
• Commitment to helping others as evident from the personal statement and letters of recommendation
• Need of financial support as evident from the personal statement and letters of recommendation

• Personal Statement
• Curriculum Vitae
• One letter of recommendation
• Proof of enrollment
• Copies of university transcripts (courses attended and grades received). Photocopies are acceptable.

Application submission date: complete applications should be received by February 16, 2014. Please allow time for mailing. Incomplete or late applications will not be reviewed.

The candidate selection announcement: the candidate will be selected and the announcement will be made by mid March, 2014. We are sorry, but we cannot contact all applicants who do not receive the scholarship.
