Germany: Postgraduate Research Programme in Capital Markets and Finance in the Enlarged Europe

"Capital Markets and Finance in the Enlarged Europe"

started on October 1st, 1999 at the European University Frankfurt (Oder). The programme is sponsored by the 'Stiftungsfonds Deutsche Bank' within the 'Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft'.

During the last decades Central and Eastern Europe was a place of deep political and economic changes. The transition process affected the financial sector and especially capital markets. The objective of the Postgraduate Research Programme is to analyse the newly born capital markets from a qualitative, quantitative and legal perspective.The research priorities are:

• Capital markets in the Enlarged Europe (market microstructure and price development in Emerging Markets, stochastic methods for risk management and risk analysis in Emerging Markets, illiquid markets, market integration)
• Business finance decisions in the Enlarged Europe (treasury and cash management in Emerging Markets, financing of multinational companies, project financing, globalisation of financial markets and international accounting)
• Institutional framework of financial and capital markets (econometric questions of capital market law, contract law and tax law, stock markets – structure, problems of control).

The Postgraduate Research Programme is internationally orientated. The target group are specially qualified graduates of Economics, Business Administration, Mathematics and Statistics with an economics/business orientation. Good knowledge of English is necessary.

The seventh academic year starts on October 1st, 2006. There are again 4 Doctoral Scholarships available. The doctoral scholarships will amount to 998 € a month. The maximum length of a scholarship is 3 years. A family adjustment and a child adjustment are also possible.

Scholarships
All admitted candidates will receive scholarships for a maximum of 3 years; doctoral stundents receive 998 € and the post-doctoral candidate 1340 € (tax free). There is also an additional family allowance of 154 € and a child allowance of 154 € available. All amounts are on a monthly basis. Every year there are 8 doctoral and 1 post-doctoral scholarships available.
