University of Bamberg nagrađuje sa Starter stipendijama za doktorski studij. Stipendija je namijenjena kandidatima koji su diplomirali sociologiju, psihologiju, edukaciju, političke znanosti, ekonomiju rada i edukacije te demografiju.

Ukupan iznos stipendije na mjesečnoj bazi je 1,468 eura a rok za prijavu je 31.04.2016.

The scholarship holders will receive a great amount of support throughout their Starter Scholarship to help them identify further funding opportunities. This support will be in the form of workshops, mentoring, advisory services and access to a rich research community.
 
Specialised research agendas have been grouped into four thematic pillars:

• Pillar 1: Education, personal development and learning from early childhood to adulthood;
• Pillar 2: Education and social inequality across the entire life course;
• Pillar 3: Changes in human capital, labour markets and demographic structures and their impact on social inequality in modern societies;
• Pillar 4: Governance, institutional change and political behavior.

Eligibility

• Highly qualified graduates in the fields of Sociology, Psychology, Education, Political Science, Labour and Educational Economics and Demography;
• Qualified graduates of related subjects with a strong Social Science background are also encouraged to apply;
• Candidates holding a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in one of the aforementioned subjects or be very close to completion. (The degree must be completed by the time of admission to BAGSS. The next admission date is April 1, 2016);
• Candidates with an excellent command of English (If English is not your native tongue, you will need to provide proof of English language proficiency);
• Candidates whose proposed doctoral research topic fits thematically with at least one of the four academic pillars of BAGSS.

Scholarship

The Starter Scholarship is awarded with the amounts to 1,468 EUR per month for a one year period only, during which the recipients are expected to develop an excellent research proposal that will be used to apply for further funding, e.g. for scholarships from the many German sponsorship organisations or the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
 
How to apply?
 
Your online application must include the following documents:

•  A cover letter of not more than 1½ pages;
• CV (including full contact information);
• At least one, but not more than two short proposals for projects which you would like to work on as your doctoral thesis;
• A scan of all your university academic degree certificate(s) and university grade transcripts;
• A concise statement on knowledge of social science research methods;
• Proof of English proficiency: one of the following English tests: UNIcert III (pass), CAE (pass), TOEFL (minimum score of 95), IELTS (minimum band score of 7) – a copy of the official test results;
• Contacts on two referees;
• All application materials must be submitted in English (except for certificates, transcripts, and letters of recommendation which may also be provided in German).
