Kindly permit us to briefly introduce our university to you:

Tomas Bata University in Zlín

The Tomas Bata University in Zlín (TBU) is a dynamically growing institution, which during its relatively short existence has attained an important position in the Czech Republic.

The TBU provides more than 8 500 students (in the academic year 2005/06) with education in the field of technology, informatics, economics, marketing, fine arts as well as humanities (pedagogy, philology, health care). The University involves the following parts:

• Faculty of Technology, including the Polymer Centre, a top level research establishment,
• Faculty of Applied Informatics,
• Faculty of Management and Economics,
• Faculty of Multimedia Communications, focusing on social communications and multimedia and design
• University Institute, concentrating on pedagogy, philology and health care.

As regards the international cooperation, at the moment we have already established cooperation with more than 70 universities all over the world. We are actively aiming to expand our international contacts; therefore we would like to offer your students a possibility of study in one of our doctoral degree programmes:

• Chemistry and Materials Technology
• Chemical and Process Engineering
• Economics and Management

Duration of stay: 3 academic years, communication language: English/Czech

Requirements: The course is open to students from accredited institutions who are interested in achieving a Doctoral degree in the above-mentioned study programmes. It is anticipated that most applicants will be at the graduate level of a min. Master’s degree. Applicants are expected to have knowledge of English/Czech at intermediate level.

Scholarship offered: CZK 8,000 per month (sufficient to cover costs of living) to cover health insurance, housing, meals at the university refectory.
School fees are covered by the TBU.
