Applications are invited for fully funded studentship within the School of Engineering at Robert Gordon University (RGU). UK/EU as well as overseas applicants is eligible to apply for this studentship.
This project aims to study the complex dynamics and the bifurcation mechanisms of nonlinear engineering systems with a particular focus on non-smooth systems, and develop new control strategies in order to maintain their performance within a satisfactory level.

For international students 6.5 IELTS or its equivalent in TOEFL is required.

Scholarship Award: The studentship provides full tuition fees (at UK/EU level) and a tax-free maintenance allowance of £14,057 per annum for 3 years. Applications are welcome from overseas applicants but the difference between overseas and UK fee (currently £10,688 per annum for 3 years) must be covered by the applicant.

Eligibility: The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for this studentship:
Candidates for the studentship must have a high quality Honours Degree (minimum requirement 2.1 but preferably First Class) in mechanical engineering, control engineering, mechanics or equivalent with a strong mathematical background. A Masters qualification in a related subject would be advantageous. The studentship provides full tuition fees (at UK/EU level) and a tax-free maintenance allowance of £14,057 per annum for 3 years. Applications are welcome from overseas applicants but the difference between overseas and UK fee (currently £10,688 per annum for 3 years) must be covered by the applicant. The studentship is for full time study based in RGU, and will start on 1 October 2016.

College Admission Requirement

Test Requirements: English qualifications university accepts:
-IELTS Academic; TOEFL iBT; Pearson PTE Academic; Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE); Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE) and Integrated Skills in English (ISE) Trinity College London.
 

English language Requirements: English is the language of instruction at Robert Gordon University and all students must demonstrate that they’re proficient in reading, writing, speaking and listening before starting a course with the university. All applicants whose first language is not from a recognised English speaking country will be asked to provide evidence of their English language skills as part of their offer to study at RGU.

An application will not be considered complete unless it includes:

  • two academic references;
  • copy of degree certificate(s) together with a transcript or mark sheet for each degree qualification;
  • certificate of English Language competency score of IELTS 6.5 in all aspects of the test or equivalent for applicants whose first language is not English;
  • please note that applications should also include a draft proposal, or at least a short summary to indicate the potential area of research.
