PhD SCHOLARSHIP FOR HUMAN RIGHTS EDUCATION 

We are looking for an excellent candidate able to complete a University of 
London PhD
for a research project entitled: Development NGOs and human 
rights education. 
 
 
You will be based in London and supervised by Dr Hugh Starkey, Institute 
of  Education and Professor John Annette, Birkbeck College co-directors of the
International Centre for Education for Democratic Citizenship (ICEDC). 
 
 
The aims of the research include: 
To investigate the intentions, approaches, partnership working methods, 
support and materials of development NGOs promoting HRE in the UK and 
overseas. 
 
To produce recommendations for NGO programme providers, schools and 
funders. 
 
 
The scholarship is of three years duration, to start October 2007. It will 
cover course fees and a stipend. You will need to demonstrate an
understanding and experience of human rights and education and of NGOs and 
provide evidence of academic study at master's level including relevant 
research training.
