Kauri and Climate Change Marsden Grant Doctoral Scholarship in New Zealand, 2014

University of Auckland is offering doctoral scholarship to undertake research relating to the impacts of climate change on kauri ecophysiology, in the School of Environment. The Scholarship is tenable by domestic students and domestic-fee paying international students. One scholarship will be awarded for a period of up to three years and will be of the value of up to $25,000 pa paid as a fortnightly stipend, plus compulsory domestic PhD fees and international student health insurance if applicable. The basis of selection will be academic merit, demonstrated research potential and the nature and quality of the applicant’s proposed research. The application deadline is 17 June 2014.

Eligibility:
-The Scholarship is tenable by domestic students and domestic-fee paying international students.
-To comply with the full-time study requirement in Regulation 3, the amount of additional and paid work a Scholar may undertake either inside or outside The University of Auckland shall not exceed a total of 500 hours per year.
-The University of Auckland Council has the power to amend or vary these Regulations provided that there is no departure from the main purpose of the Scholarship.

Scholarship Description: The University of AucklandThe Scholarship was established in 2013 and is funded by a Marsden Grant awarded to an academic staff member from the School of Environment in the Faculty of Science at The University of Auckland. The main purpose of the Scholarship is to support a PhD student to undertake research relating to the impacts of climate change on kauri ecophysiology, in the School of Environment at the University of Auckland.

Number of award(s): One doctoral scholarship is offered.

Duration of award(s): The Scholarship will provide support for up to 36 months and payments will commence from the doctoral registration date or the date nominated by the Faculty of Science (whichever is the later date).

What does it cover? Scholarship will be of the value of up to $25,000 pa paid as a fortnightly stipend, plus compulsory domestic PhD fees and international student health insurance if applicable.

Selection Criteria: The basis of selection will be academic merit, demonstrated research potential and the nature and quality of the applicant’s proposed research.

Notification: Applicants will be notified approximately six weeks after the closing date by letter or email.
