Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at Trinity College Dublin is pleased of offer Masters Studentship for September 2016 intake. This studentship is available to new entrants (EU and Non-EU) to pursue taught LL.M programmes.

This studentship seeks to acknowledge the quality of entrants to their taught LL.M programmes and the on-going contribution of LL.M students to their Law School and Faculty of AHSS. It aims to support and develop gifted postgraduate students.

The School of Law, Trinity College Dublin attracts students of the highest calibre and currently has a student population of approximately 700 undergraduates and 170 postgraduates.

If English is not applicant’s first language, they will need to meet the university’s English language requirements for postgraduate courses.

Course Level: Studentship is available for pursuing taught LL.M programmes.

Study Subject: Studentship is awarded at the Law School.

List of Subjects: Master in Laws, International and Comparative Law, International and European Business Law and International and European Intellectual Property Law

Scholarship Award: The value of the studentship is a 5,000 euro contribution towards LL.M tuition fees (EU or Non-EU) in academic year 2016/17.

Eligibility: In order to be eligible, applicants must hold and have officially accepted an unconditional offer of a place on one of these programmes by 31st July 2016. This studentship is open to EU and Non-EU postgraduate students undertaking studies on one of their four LL.M degrees in 2016/17. It is offered subject to the following conditions:

  • The holder must engage in full-time study and must register for one LL.M degree at the Law School in academic year 2016/17;
  • The holder is required to engage in relevant academic activities as determined by the LL.M Course Director;
  • The holder must not be a simultaneous holder of other grants, or funding or other awards (or any other awards with a similar monetary value).

Nationality: EU and Non-EU students can apply for this studentship.

College Admission Requirement

Entrance Requirement: Applications for admission to each LL.M programme are invited from graduates holding a good honors law or law based interdisciplinary degree.

Test Requirement: No

English Language Requirement: Students whose first language is not English and who have not been educated through the medium of English must present one of the following qualifications in the English Language:
TOEFL – An internet-based score of at least 88, a computerised score of at least 230 or a manual score of at least 570
IELTS – A minimum grade of 6.5 is required
Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English / Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English – Grade C
Pearson Test of English (Academic) – PTE Academic – A minimum score of 63 is required (with no section score below 59)

Law Scholarships

Supporting Material: LL.M applicants must complete the online application form and upload the following supporting documentation:

  • Certified Academic transcript(s) for all completed and current academic and professional courses
  • Certified copy of degree certificate(s) for all completed academic and professional courses
  • Two Academic References
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • A recognized certificate of English Language Competency if English is not their first language.
  • Applicants are welcome to submit additional documentation for consideration if they so wish.

How to Apply: All applications for the LLM programmes must be submitted online. LL.M Applicants who meet the above eligibility criteria and wish to be considered for this studentship must submit a one-page letter in Microsoft Word or PDF format to law.postgraduate-at-tcd.ie indicating:

  • Full name and TCD application number (assigned by TCD when application is submitted);
  • Interest in being considered for the award;
  • The reasons why they believe such an award would be justified.
