University of Queensland Phd scholarship

 

University of Queensland is offering PhD scholarships within the Institute for Molecular Bioscience. Applicants must be enrolled or intend to enroll in a PhD or MPhil at IMB, as full-time students. The Award provides a stipend (at the level of the APA – $24,653 for 2013) for a period of three years from the start of candidature. This Award may be extended by a period of up to six months, dependent on progress. The scholarship is intended to provide a living allowance; it does not provide fees for international students. The application deadline is 31 December 2014.

Eligibility:

  • The primary criteria for the award of these scholarships will be merit, determined by academic track record and research performance relative to opportunity. Students must have been made an unconditional offer from UQ before accepting the scholarship.
  • The scholarship is intended to provide a living allowance; it does not provide fees for international students.
  • International students wishing to apply must have some means of covering fees or be requesting nomination for a fee waiver scholarship.

Scholarship Open for International Students: Australian, New Zealand and international students can apply for these PhD scholarships.

Scholarship Description: The Institute for Molecular Bioscience is an outstanding research institute located at The University of Queensland, in Brisbane, Australia. The IMB’s mission is to decipher the information contained in the genes, proteins and molecules of humans, animals and plants.

Duration of award(s): These PhD scholarships are offered for three years. This Award may be extended by a period of up to six months, dependent on progress.

 

What does it cover? The Award provides a stipend (at the level of the APA – $24,653 for 2013) for a period of three years from the start of candidature (which is funded 50% by IMB core funds, 50% by the research group). This Award may be extended by a period of up to six months, dependent on progress. The scholarship is intended to provide a living allowance; it does not provide fees for international students. International students wishing to apply must have some means of covering fees or be requesting nomination for a fee waiver scholarship.

 

Selection Criteria: The primary criteria for the award of these scholarships will be merit, determined by academic track record and research performance relative to opportunity.

 

How to Apply: Apply for admission into the program. Supply all supporting documents as per application process. In addition to the application for admission supporting documents, the prospective principal advisor must submit a recommendation form, clearly stating why they feel the student should be considered for such an Award and providing evidence of the level of financial support they are prepared to offer.
