Call for admission

with scholarships to the Master's Degreein "Science of Nutrition", curriculum in "Nutritional Sciences", for the academic year 2022/23 reserved for students from countries subscribing to the UNESCO dossier "Mediterranean Diet"


Art.1 Announcement
The University of Calabria announces the competition for admission, for 10 places with scholarship, to the Master's degree course in Nutritional Sciences, curriculum in "Nutritional Sciences", for the academic year 2022/23, reserved for students from countries subscribing to the UNESCO dossier "Mediterranean diet".

Art.2 Scholarships
The scholarships, financed with funds from the "University Departments of Excellence" project law 232/2016, will be reserved for foreign students from countries that have signed the dossier on the "Mediterranean Diet": Cyprus, Croatia, Greece, Morocco, Portugal, Spain. Each scholarship awarded will cover the costs of food, accommodation on the university campus and matriculation fees.


Art.3 Participation requirements
Candidates must have the following qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in: Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology, Medicine and Surgery, Veterinary Medicine and / or equivalent;
  • Degree in: Nutritional Science, Pharmaceutical Sciences and Technologies, Biotechnologies, Biological Sciences, Agricultural and Food Sciences and Technologies, Chemical Sciences and
  • Technologies and / or equivalent;
  • English Language Proficiency: CEF B2 or upper levels.

International students who apply for entry visas, need to submit a pre-enrollment application, according to university enrollment procedures for the A.Y. 2022/2023, published at http://www.universitaly.it.

Pre-enrollment applications shall be accepted by Diplomatic-Consular Authorities conditionally, if applying students still attend their last year of university and they are about to take the graduation exam.

For qualifications obtained abroad, students need to submit, no later than 28/02/2023, the following documents:

  • a bachelor’s degree certificate officially translated into Italian and certified by the Italian Diplomatic Authorities of the relevant country or a translated copy of the bachelor’s degree with an Apostille.
  • Declaration of Value of the bachelor’s degree, issued by the competent Italian Diplomatic Authorities of the Country where the degree was awarded.


Students need to submit the documents above in one of the following ways:

  • when submitting their admission application, by means of the "upload attachments" function;
  • after enrolment, from their own Esse3 account, from Menu -> Student Secretary’s Office-> Qualifications.

Failure to submit such documents by the deadline indicated above, will result in the blocking of career records and students will not be allowed to take exams.

Art.4 Application for participation
Candidates who aspire to benefit from the scholarships assigned to the English curriculum "Nutritional Sciences" of the Master's Degree Course in Nutritional Science for the academic year 2022/2023 must complete the online application by accessing the site:

The following documents must be attached to the application:
1) Front-back scanned copy of passport or other identity document;
2) Curriculum vitae (attachment 1) specifying all academic work experiences in the field of the Master's Degree Course in Nutritional Sciences;
3) Official copy of the transcript of each post-secondary educational institution attended containing the list of courses and relative grade, the title of the degree achieved and the final grade;
4) The B2 level of English language proficiency certification issued by accredited international institutions, such as the Cambridge First Certificate (FCE), TOEFL, IELTS, (the minimum score to be considered equivalent to B2 level is the following: IELTS 5.5; TOEFL PBT 507-557; TOEFL CBT 180- 2017; TOEFL IBT 80-99; Trinity College of London ISE II).


The application form may be completed from July 11, 2022 to September 10, 2022


Art.5 Publication of ranking list and enrolment
Criteria for selection: the specifically appointed departmental commission will award the scholarships on the basis of academic merit and further academic qualifications achieved. The provisional ranking list will be published on 18 September 2022 on the webpage: https://www2.unical.it/portale/strutture/dipartimenti_240/dfssn/ 

Excluded candidates may submit a justified appeal to the selection board by 21 September 2022. Appeals must be addressed to the certified e-mail account: dipartimento.farmacia@pec.unical.it no later than 21 September 2022.

The final ranking list will be published on 23 September 2022 on the webpage: https://www2.unical.it/portale/strutture/dipartimenti_240/dfssn/ 

Within 6 days from the date of publication of the final ranking list, the winners must send the enrolment request to the Department of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and Nutrition at the e-mail address:
direttore.farmacia@unical.it

Art.6 Subsequent enrolments
The assignment of unassigned scholarships, at the expiry of the deadline set for the enrolment of the winners, will take place by scrolling the ranking list until its full completion. The enrolment request must be sent to the e-mail address: direttore.farmacia@unical.it within 3 days following the publication of the ranking list available on the website: https://www2.unical.it/portale/strutture/dipartimenti_240/dfssn/


At the end of the enrolment procedure, any un-awarded scholarships will be allocated to students positioned in the merit ranking list resulting from the announcement for admission to the Master's Degree Course in Nutritional Sciences curriculum “Nutritional Sciences” for the academic year 2022/2023


Art.7 Requirements after enrollment
Upon completion of enrollment procedures, students should activate the institutional e-mail account codicefiscale@studenti.unical.it, that is used by the University for official communications, according to the directions available at unical.it/mailstudenti.

Art.8 Fees and scholarships
Scholarships for the 10 students who are beneficiaries of the scholarships shall be entirely funded by the project "University Departments of Excellence" Law 232/2016.


Art.9 Candidates with disabilities and candidates diagnosed with SLD
In order to take advantage of the benefits provided by the relevant regulations, no later than 10 days after matriculation, eligible students need to attach their certification of disability and/or DSA in the dedicated section on unical.esse3.cineca.it.

The certification must attest the state of invalidity, disability or SLD issued in the country of residence, accompanied by a legal translation by an official translator or certified in accordance with the original text by the Italian diplomatic representations, in Italian or in English. The University of Calabria will ensure that the foreign documentation certifies a condition of invalidity, disability or specific learning disability recognized by Italian law.


Art.10 Verifications
Presented declarations will be subject to verification according to articles 71 and 75 of decree n.445/28 December 2000 of the President of the Republic. In the case of an ascertained untruthful declaration, exclusion from the competition will be carried out with consequent forfeiture of the possibility of enrolling for the academic year 2022/2023 or closure of the career already activated, notwithstanding the provisions of article 76 of the aforementioned legislation on the subject of criminal penalties.

Personal data will be processed exclusively for institutional purposes. For further

ANNEX A - Disclosure pursuant to Article 13 Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR).
This notice fulfils the requirement of Regulation (EU) 2016/679, General Data Protection Regulation (henceforth, GDPR), which, pursuant to Article 13, states the obligation for any institution to provide the data subjects with the necessary information to ensure the correct and transparent processing of their personal data.

Purposes and legal basis of data processing
The data provided with the submission of the application for admission to degree courses or subsequently, after passing the competition for admission, at the time of enrollment and during students’ educational path, up to the final graduation examination, is collected and used within the limits established by laws and regulations and will be processed for institutional purposes. It should be noted that the processing is carried out in accordance with the general principles of lawfulness, transparency, correctness, accuracy, minimization, confidentiality and integrity referred to in Article 5 GDPR and that the data will be processed for administrative and educational activities exclusively. The University will also be entitled to process personal data for statistical and scientific purposes and, among other things, to facilitate the analysis and improvement of teaching and research activities, services, as well as for equal access to university purposes.


Method of processing and data subjects
Personal data requested and acquired is collected and processed both in paper form and by electronic means (computers) for purposes related to the performance of University's institutional activities. The calculation of fees and contributions requires access to students’ households’ income data by the University. This data is mainly processed by means of computer systems and used for the purpose of calculating fees and university contributions. 

Data is also communicated to the Public Administrations in charge of controls, by way of illustration, Agenzia delle Entrate, INPS and Guardia di Finanza (Revenue agency, the National Insurance Institution and Finance Police). Any categories of special data and/or judicial data will be processed in accordance with the GDPR and in compliance with the Regulations for the Processing of Sensitive and Judicial Data of the University of Calabria. The provision of some personal data (last name, first name, residence address, tax code and e-mail address) is necessary for creating a liaison between students and the University, therefore this data is mandatory. Failure to provide such data, will result in the impossibility for the University to activate and implement relevant administrative procedures. 


Rights of data subjects
In some specific circumstances, data subjects will be entitled by the Data Controller to access to their personal data in order to amend or erase them or to restrict their processing, data subjects will also be entitled to object to their data processing (Articles 15 et seq. of the GDPR). These rights can be exercised by submitting a written application to the Data Controller. Minor students are asked to carefully read this notice together with their parents or legal guardian before communicating their data to the University.
