UNESCO-Aschberg  “Bursaries for Artists”

Important information:

  • The selection of candidates will take place at the end of June 2006. Only successful candidates will be notified of the selection.
  • The applications are only individual unless otherwise stated.
    Please check the institution’s closing date for application: your files must be received by that date.
  • Laureates can only benefit from the bursary programme once and bursaries are not renewable.
  • Candidates who are nationals of the state which offers the residency will not be considered.
  • Laureates must pay for their own visas.
  • Incomplete or misdirected files will neither be considered nor returned.
  • Applications sent by fax or e-mail will neither be considered nor returned unless otherwise stated.
  • The copy of the application form to be sent to UNESCO may be sent either by ordinary mail, fax or email. Please note that no receipt will be delivered for this copy.

Information to make up your file:

A curriculum vitæ must indicate: 

  1. your educational qualifications
  2. your artistic experience
  3. education or work experience abroad

A letter of application must explain the reasons why you wish to participate in a chosen residency or training programme. Please be accurate in describing your objectives, needs and expectations in relation to the residency.

The testimonials have to be written by people qualified to judge your artistic achievements and potential.

A document assessing your command of languages is sometimes required by the host institution (unless it is your mother tongue). Examples: TOEFL, diploma, certificate, marks sheet, certificate by a language teacher, etc.

The artistic documentation (with your name clearly appearing on each of its items) may vary according to the discipline and the requirements of each institution. It can consist of :

  • Visual arts: a sample of photographs, mounted slides (with the name, the title of the work, the chronology and the appropriate orientation for the projection) or CD-ROM
  • Theatre, dance: newspaper clippings, photographs, videotape (VHS) or DVD
  • Music: audio tape, CD or scores (for composers)
  • Creative writing: copy of a manuscript or published text
  • Media Arts: CD-ROM or videotape (VHS). Please indicate the format on the case.

The particular requirements for each institution are specified on the corresponding page. Please refer to it when preparing your file.

CHECK-LIST

  • If you have chosen to apply for several bursaries at the same time, send a separate application file for each institution.
  • If you wish your artistic file to be returned, make sure you ticked off the appropriate box, enclosed sufficient postage and a self-addressed envelope.
  • Have you checked that your age, professional profile, knowledge of language, country of origin and artistic experience correspond to the requirements indicated by the host institution?
  • Have you enclosed all artistic and other required documentation with the application form?
  • Are you sure that you are sending your application file to the correct address? Please check the destination under the item ‘How to apply’ on the relevant page. When the original file must be sent directly to the institution, do not forget to send a copy of this application form ONLY to UNESCO-IFPC
