The Zlatko and Joyce Baloković Scholarship Fund is awarded to students from the Republic of Croatia who have been admitted to, or have applied for, a postgraduate programme (master’s or doctoral level) at Harvard University in the 2026/2027 academic year. The scholarship is intended exclusively for full-time study at any school or department of Harvard University. Part-time, online, and summer programmes are not eligible.

The application and admission process to Harvard University is carried out independently by the candidate during the autumn application cycle prior to the publication of the scholarship call. Applications for the scholarship must be submitted before the start of studies and prior to entering the United States. Applications are submitted to the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts (CASA), which nominates a limited number of candidates. The competent bodies of Harvard University then confirm the candidates, approve enrolment, and determine the amount of the scholarship. As a rule, the scholarship cannot be extended.

Required application documents (in Croatian and English):

• confirmation of application for admission to Harvard University for the 2026/2027 academic year (including the name of the school and study programme);

• curriculum vitae;

• diploma of completed higher education; exceptionally, proof that the master’s degree will be completed by June 2026 may be accepted;

• letters of recommendation from two university professors;

• motivation letter;

• proof of English language proficiency (TOEFL, IELTS, or another relevant certificate).

Candidates who are already enrolled at Harvard University but have deferred the start of their studies for one year are also eligible to apply. Candidates applying for a scholarship for the second year of study must submit proof of successful completion of the first year.
