The Turkish Cultural Foundation Fellowships

The Turkish Cultural Foundation aims to sponsor research on subjects related to the art and culture of Turkey, and to studies related to the preservation of Turkey’s artistic and cultural heritage. The mission of the TCF Fellowship Program is also to recognize and to assist students and researchers whose scholastic achievements reflect the commitment of the Turkish Cultural Foundation to disseminating knowledge of Turkey’s cultural heritage.

Fellowships are open to citizens of Turkey and to international scholars who are engaged in the research phase of doctoral studies and for scholars whose Ph.D. or equivalent professional training has been completed within the past 10 years.

Ten dissertation research grants and five post-doctoral fellowships will be awarded each academic year to qualified applicants. Amount Offered is USD 10,000 for PhD level fellowships and USD 15,000 for post-doctoral level fellowships. Length of Fellowship is one year and it may be renewed.

All applications for 2008/2009 must be received by May 30th, 2008.

Applicants must submit three sets of the following documents:

• Application Letter (title of the project, field of study, a statement of purpose). This letter should be no longer than 1½ pages (375 words)
• Application Form
• Proposal/ essays (2,000 words maximum). Indicate description of the project and its importance, including a table of contents, a brief survey of the literature, the progress already made, anticipated time of completion. Indicate relation to the Turkish Cultural Foundation′s mission efforts and how it corresponds to the TCF goals
• Resume
• Three letters of recommendation (If applicant is a doctoral candidate, one from the student′s thesis advisor.)
• Official transcripts (if doctoral candidate)
• Official evidence of English language proficiency (TOEFL)

Applications should be written in English. Applicant’s name must be typed at the top of each sheet.
