Donald Dyer Postgraduate Research Scholarship in Public Relations and Communication Management

Are you considering post graduate research studies in Public Relations or Communication Management? Are you a graduate with honors in Public Relations, Communication Management, Marketing or Advertising? The prestigious Australian Scholarship in Public Relations and Communication is available for 2006!

We would appreciate your support in the dissemination of information to potential candidates, who may be eligible for financial support for a Masters or PhD in the area of Public Relations or Communications Management.

Prospective candidates from areas such as Public Relations, Communication Management, Marketing and Advertising are encouraged to apply; however, they will need to be prepared to undertake their research studies in Public Relations or Communication Management.

Conditions of Application

Deadline for application: 31 October 2005

Normally, International applications for other UniSA scholarships close at the end of August. However, all applications, both International and Australian are open till the 31st October for the Donald Dyer Scholarship.

The Scholarship applications will be competitive, therefore scholarship applicants will need to demonstrate, that they hold a first class honors, and have written a substantial thesis of 20,000 words; or received a high merit in a Masters by research, and produced a written piece of research of 40,000 words. Industry experience will be considered as part of the application. The scholarship for an international student will cover the cost of fees, and some living allowance.

Thesis proposal:

When applying, it is important to prepare the thesis topic with your application. Prospective applicants will need to have written about 5-11 pages as part of the thesis proposal submission.

Normally the thesis proposal is refined and completed within the first six months of candidacy; however, a clear demonstration of the candidates area of interest, needs to be presented to the scholarship panel. Your curriculum Vitae can contain information about refereed articles/papers submitted to journals or conferences.

The successful applicant for the Scholarship may have undergraduate (+ honors) qualifications in Marketing, Advertising or Public Relations; However, the successful candidate will be required to undertake their research topic in the specific areas of public relations, communications management.

Two referee reports are required with the application. Certified copies of academic transcripts, and a copy of your birth certificate. International students must provide two passport photos.

Mode of Study:

All International applicants will need to study in Australia in a full-time mode, due to Visa requirements Prospective Australian applicants will be able to explore Part-time and external options as part of the application.

Stipend:

May be increased to Aud$26,000, but is Aud$22,200 per annum (tax- free) at present for a full-time candidate. Part-time Australian candidates will receive just over half the stipend to accommodate for tax purpose
