PhD Studentship in Psychological Child Development - Imperial College London

Applications are invited for a three-year PhD studentship in the Institute of Reproductive and Developmental Biology, Imperial College London, funded by the National Institutes of Health.

The research will be carried out in collaboration with the Children of the Nineties population study (ALSPAC) in Bristol, and the University of Rochester, USA, but will be based in London. Applicants should possess/expect at least an upper second-class honors life science degree, and be interested in fetal programming, child development and its biological basis. The project will involve relating the maternal emotional state during pregnancy and the outcome for the child, with a particular focus on the function of the HPA axis. The student will carry out saliva cortisol essays and data analysis, and will also be able to develop some related independent projects.

The studentship is available as soon as possible. The stipend will be £15,500 pa, with EU/UK rate fees paid in addition. The grant does not cover the extra PhD fees for non-EU nationals.
