Weidenfeld Institute for Strategic Dialogue (WISD) to study at postgraduate level at Oxford University

Weidenfeld Leadership Programme and Scholarship Scheme aims to cultivate the leaders of tomorrow. The mission is to give the most promising young people from regions underserved by academic scholarship and leadership training opportunities a chance to access the knowledge, skills and international networks necessary to optimally contribute to public life in their countries and regions of origin - be it in the public or private sectors; the opportunity to pursue graduate studies at Oxford University and to participate in a comprehensive programme of leadership development, with access to senior figures from the public and private sectors.

Up to 35 Scholarships will be available in the academic year 2008/2009.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate that they have professional aspirations to contribute to the public good in their country or region. Preference will be given to applicants with financial need who have not studied outside their home country before.

Application Procedure

Apply at the same time as you apply to Oxford by selecting Weidenfeld in the Funding Section of the
University's Graduate Application Form.

Those that have been selected by their academic department at Oxford will then go through the Weidenfeld Scholarships selection process that results in the short-listed candidates coming to Oxford for an expense paid interview weekend in April 2008.

Deadline is January 18th 2008.

Results Successful candidates will be notified by early May 2008. A notice will appear on the International Office’s website (www.admin.ox.ac.uk/io ) when decisions have been made. If you have not heard from us by the time this notice is posted, then your application to this scheme has been unsuccessful.

The programme is managed by the Weidenfeld Institute for Strategic Dialogue, a London-based policy organisation, which works with leading figures in the public and private sectors to bridge international and inter-communal divides and to strengthen Europe’s capacity to act coherently in the global arena. A Selection Committee drawn from the Advisory Board is responsible for interviewing and electing the Scholars.
