PhD Position on "Optimization, Control and Visualization of Acrobatic Somersaults and Twists" with Dr. Katja Mombaur and Prof. Dr. Hans Georg Bock, Simulation and Optimization Group, IWR, University of Heidelberg

The subject of the PhD thesis is highly interdisciplinary and covers the fields of robotics, scientific computing and computer graphics. The tasks include the creation of complex 3D models of the human body, the application and development of optimal control and real-time control algorithms, and the interpretation and visualization of the resulting optimal motions. The salary is at least BAT IIA/2.

A diploma or masters degree in engineering, mathematics or physics is required. Ideal candidates have experience in numerical mathematics, in particular in optimization and optimal control, mechanical modeling /multibody dynamics, and have programming skills in C or C++.
